Shielded turrets should have the blue shields like the fighter hangers do.
Be able to change horizontal and vertical sensitivity independently.
Some enemy fighter movement patterns are very "tight", maybe make them larger so it is easier to track their movement with the guns?
At the last level once there are no enemies following the player maybe pull one off of a different dogfight and make them go after the player so they always feel "under pressure" ?

Overall a very good first jaunt into game making!
Some small suggestions:
